Overview
The Wake Forest Journal of Law & Policy 2017 Spring symposium,Isolated by the Law: The Legal and Ethical Issues Surrounding Quarantine During Public Health Emergencies, will bring together experts in law, policy, science, and medicine whose research focuses on public health issues and quarantine.
Speakers will discuss the U.S. public healthcare system as a whole and delve deep into what is legally and ethically owed to asymptomatic individuals who are quarantined.
Professor Wendy Parmet, a leading expert on health, disability and public health law, Professor Mark Rothstein, the nation’s leading expert in quarantine and fair compensation, and Nurse Kaci Hickox, who was subjected to quarantine during the Ebola scare, are among some of the speakers attending this event.
Isolated by the Law is free and open to the public. This event is pending approval of 4 hours of free Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credit from the North Carolina Bar Association (NCBA). It is co-sponsored by the Wake Forest Center for Bioethics, Health, & Society.
