Shaka Mitchell is the President and Co-Founder of MoreMarrowDonors.org, a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing the number of life-saving marrow transplants by offering donors compensation. Prior to founding MoreMarrowDonors.org Shaka served as the Executive Vice President of the Tennessee Center for Policy Research (TCPR) where he managed research and legislative initiatives across a range of issues including educational reform, barriers to entrepreneurship, and private property rights.
Before joining TCPR Shaka was the Outreach Coordinator at the Institute for Justice, the nation’s leading libertarian constitutional law firm, where he cultivated grassroots and organizational support for the firm’s litigation. Shaka’s writings and opinions have been featured in various outlets including The ABA Journal, The Tennessean, National Journal’s CongressDaily, and Fox News – Nashville. Shaka received his J.D. at Wake Forest University School of Law and his B.S. at Belmont University, where he is an adjunct professor of political science. Shaka serves as the Board Chairman of Young Life in Nashville where he lives with his wife Dr. Stephanie Mitchell and their daughter Emma Ruth.
